Hot Stone: Spa massage relaxation, with a warm therapeutic touch

Background

The use of hot stones for massage purposes is deeply rooted. In the North America, use of stones can be traced back through our Native American culture. Hot Stones, or “Grandfathers” were placed on individuals during sweat lodge ceremonies to promote relaxation. In Hawaii, “pohaku” lava rocks were used in a similar fashion. In Asia, the stones were used in more specific and therapeutic ways. Our Hot Stone Massage utilizes both the relaxation you receive from the warmth of the stones and the deeper therapy from the use of the stone as a tool.

What to expect

A Hot Stone Massage is typically performed on a table, underneath a towel or sheet. You may choose to keep your underwear on as many newcomers do, or go nude. Your Alvino Massage practitioner will only uncover the part of the body he or she is working on. We maintain the most professional standards to ensure you have a comfortable experience.

Our stones our water treated, sanitized and warmed to about 150 degrees Fahrenheit. While many stone treatments simply place stones on you, Alvino Massage chooses to use the stones to gently work your muscles. USDA Certified Organic oils are applied to the stones to ensure smooth body work.

Hot stones are primarily applied to the core of your body: Back, legs, arms, and hand. Stones that have cooled slightly may be applied to your neck. Although your face may be massage, stones will not be applied here.
